You know when we are so busy in our day to day lives, when we are running in circles and can't imagine having the time or energy to do one more thing and our "To Do" list never seems to get completed. And, we wonder "how will I get all of this done?!?" Well, it was one of those days for me yesterday. And while I took a moment to look around at all the things that needed to be done (and there is A LOT) I don't know what came over me or what I was thinking, but I found myself knee deep in yet another project! A project I didn't have the time to start let alone complete! You see, I currently live in a rental. One that was built in 1973 and has all the wonderful charm of a 1973 track home!
Counter tops, bathrooms, light fixtures and carpet that need updating! I mean reeeeally need updating. So, you know what they say...a little paint can do wonders! Well, when I finally came to, here I was painting the bathroom my three boys share! It was plain white with a white tile back splash around the counter top and tub surround. BORING!! It looked like it should have been in a motel! The color I chose was Behr Classic Taupe. I know..... the choice of paint is not a bold statement in color, but I thought it would be a great backdrop to add some color. I had found a candle the shade of blue that I wanted to use to put color into this bathroom. The first 5 pics are the BEFORE pictures. Don't you just love the cabinets and light?!?
Here is the AFTER pics. I am so lovin' the vintage medicine cabinet that has been painted black & distressed. The vintage round mirror I picked up at a yard sale for $3!!! (I will be adding a frabic ribbon behind it) The new light fixture was on clearance at Home Depot $26.
Here's the $2 basket and $1 rooster I got a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not finished with the "update" yet, I still need to paint the cabinets black & distress them & give them some new hardware and add some decor to the walls. But I do hope to have it done soon, maybe by this weekend. We'll see, let's hope it doesn't become another one of my latest unfinished projects that gets added to my already too long list! Fingers crossed ! :)
Until Later,
~Toni~
A little color made a big difference!! I love the distressed mirror!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a difference! I absolutely cannot wait to see how the rest of it turns out! Love the medicine cabinet!!

I like it! I'm a step behind you. Our home was built in 1971...countertops are those swirly ones with the shell sink. We need to remove them, put a counter top on and drop a sink in. I have gone as far as painting the cabinets in one black and that looks good.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I love paint. It does wonders for any room. Great job with the accessories as well.
ReplyDeleteNice job on the bathroom! I've been fixing up the rental house I live in too. Nice to have a landlord that will allow that. She hasn't been over to see what I've done but I'm sure she will like it. Just hope she doesn't raise my rent because of all of the improvements!
