Fabulous Finds - Happy Dance
Stop by and see what fabulous treasures everyone has found this weekend.
So far this weekend I was not very lucky with garage sales. They usually start on Thursday around here. I had only bought the two items from my earlier post at a thrift store. Today I decided to try a couple of yard sales listed on Craigslist. I was pretty sure by the address of one, that I had been there before. I was so excited to see it was the one I had thought it was. I remember getting some of my favorite pieces at this sale and since the other two were busts, I was hopping to score some fab finds. A lot of vintage dressers, chairs, some dishware and an antique sofa. I was starting to lose hope when I spotted a piece, a rusty metal cake stand. It has a wonderful lace trim and just the right amount of rust for me!! WOO HOO! I asked the daughter of the gal if she had anymore pieces like this one and she said YES, she would grab it. Out of the house she comes with another cake stand! I asked the price, counter offered and she took my offer!! I have to tell you, I got a great deal on them! (Can you tell they are my favorite) Yes I am doing the HAPPY DANCE!! I have the perfect delicately etched plates to go on top! I see a garden tablescape with these :) and possibly a cloche with one :)
Here is a close up of the rusty patina and lacey border. YEAH!!
I also picked up a pair of small black shutters and a vintage towel drying rack. The rack was only .50 cents.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Now I'm off to go strip (with my new heat gun) and paint a few pieces!
Until Later,

I Loved Them Then & Now...
Don'tcha just love when things come around in style again. I do! I only wish I had the knowledge then, when I actually possessed the item, that I have now! We all now that what we possess now, what's popular, lusted after, collected, will again in time have the same desire for us or someone new. When I had my first little house at 16 1/2 years old (yes, you read that right! LOL) and yes I did continue to go to school with my classmates and graduate while working two part time jobs. I had, what I thought, was an adorably decorated home. It was the 70's, and the colors were drab, avocado, orange, brown, yellow.........YUCK!! But, I always reached outside of the normal box when it came to color! :) Even then I hunted at flea markets, yard sales and discount stores to decorate with. One of my favorite pieces in my kitchen was a wooden fork and spoon pair that I think Home Interior sold. I could never afford it, but a friend's mom was throwing out a perfectly good pair!!! My friend was shocked when I asked for them. She thought they were ugly and couldn't understand why I would want them. But, I knew they were perfect for my kitchen. I hung onto them for a couple more moves and like everyone else sold, donated or gave them away.
Well, yesterday I went to Savers, a local thrift store, and found a metal fork and spoon!! YEAH!! I know you all have seen them out there in blogland, well I'm now a proud owner!! And I know exactly where they are going to go :)
While there I also picked up this cute little frenchy sign. Love it!!

My son the Hero
Being a wonderful son who could see his mother was a little stressed, he said he would take care of it. At this time, I am on top of my dining room table, no joke, dancing around, and he is on our patio with a shovel and that darned snake is striking at him. He's thinking that he will just shoo it off and I'm crying and screaming for him to kill it. (To everyone who loves animals, I'm sorry) but my fear of the slithery is so deep that I have to know it's dead before I will get off the table or ever venture into my backyard again. After Ty takes care of the snake and is disposing of it, off our property, I'm now thinking that it probably had a buddy who is now in my house!! Again, being the good son that he is, he humors me and searches the whole house, looking under anything a snake could get under! Once he sees that I am calming down, he said, "mom, you do know that snakes don't travel in packs and that was the only snake and he's gone" I agreed and very cautiously, searching the floor to make sure it was safe, got down from my table.
My son Tyler, was my hero and saved his momma from living on top of the dining room table :)
